Treasure Trove: 6/18/2013


Indianapolis DNP - Rain postponement; The Indians will play a doubleheader on 6/19, with Jeanmar Gomez slated to start the first game and Andy Oliver the second game.


David Bromberg got the start for the Curve and was very impressive, pitching 7 shutout innings in a 5-4 win over New Hampshire in extra innings.  Bromberg gave up 4 hits and 1 walk compared to 7 strikeouts. Gregory Polanco went 0-3 with a walk. Mel Rojas Jr. and Adalberto Santos both went 2-5 with a run scored.  Santos added a 2 run homerun for three RBI's total.  Alex Dickerson went 1-4 with a double and a strikeout.  Altoona plays at 7:00 PM on 6/19 and the starter is TBD.

Bradenton was defeated by Jupiter 11-5 with starter Zach Dodson taking the loss. He lasted 2.2 innings, giving up 6 hits, 8 runs (2 ER), and 1 walk, with 0 strikeouts. Alen Hanson prolonged 7 run third inning with an error.  Hanson was, however, impressive at the plate, finishing 4-5, with a run scored and 2 doubles. He's been fantastic in June. (.953 OPS) Eric Avila went 3-4 with 2 homeruns. Junior Sosa and Dan Gamache had the only other hits, each going 1-4. Matt Benedict will start on 6/19 at 6:35.

West Virginia DNP - All-star break; The Power will resume play on 6/20 at 7:05.  The Power starter is TBD.



Jamestown won their contest with Mahoning Valley 3-0.  Colton Brewer pitched 5 shutout innings giving up 5 hits and a walk.  He struck out two batters.  Jamestown only managed four hits, with Elvis Escobar, Jin-De Jhang, Danny Collins, and Edwin Espinal having a hit each.  Escobar struck out twice and added a walk. Collins walked once. Jhang's hit was a homrun. Harold Ramirez went 0-4 with 2 strikeouts. Davydas Neverauskas will start at 7:05 on 6/19 for the Jammers.

GCL DNP - Season yet to start; The GCL Pirates will start on 6/21 at 12:00 PM



The DSL Pirates 1 lost to the DSL Rockies 5-2. Starter Ramon Rodriguez went 5 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs (1ER). He struck out 3 and walked none. Tito Polo went 1-3 with a walk. Julio De La Cruz went hitless in 4 at-bats and struck out twice. Luis Benitez went 2-3 with a K. The DSL Pirates 1 play at 10:30 AM against the DSL Rockies on 6/19.

The DSL Pirates 2 lost to the DSL Orioles 2 3-2.  Starter Omar Basulto pitched 5 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 earned runs, while striking out 5.  17 year-old relief pitcher Richard Mitchell pitched two scoreless innings in relief, giving up a hit and striking out 2.  Michael De La Cruz went 1-3, with 2 walks and a strikeout.  Johan Herrera went 0-4 with a walk. Carlos Munoz went 2-5.  The DSL Pirates 2 face DSL Orioles 2 at 10:30 AM on 6/19.
