Treasure Trove: 6/16/2013

The Indianapolis Indians dropped their game against the Durham Bulls by the score of 5-2.  James McDonald took the mound on a rehab start and gave up 8 hits, 3 earned runs, and issued 3 walks, while only striking out 1 batter in 5 innings.  He threw 93 pitches and only 52 for strikes.  Josh Harrison led off for the Indians and went 2-4 with a triple and a strikeout.  Tony Sanchez went 1-4 with a run scored.  Newly promoted Andrew Lambo went 1-3, with a 2-run homerun. Stolmy Pimentel will make his AAA debut on 6/17 at 7:05 PM.

The Altoona Curve won their contest against the Trenton Thunder 2-1. Jameson Taillon started after missing nearly two weeks with stiffness. Taillon pitched very well, going 5 innings, giving up 6 hits and 1 unearned run.  He did not walk a batter and struck out 6. Adalberto Santos went 2-3 with a run scored and a walk.  Gregory Polanco continued hitting after his promotion, going 2-4.  Jarek Cunningham had the lone extra base hit for the Curve, going 1-4, with a double and a strikeout.  Altoona has 6/17 off and will play against on 6/18.

Bradenton - DNP. Bradenton plays 6/17 at 6:35.  Adrian Sampson will get the nod as the starter.

The West Virgina Power squared off against the Greensboro Grasshopers, coming out on the wrong side of a 7-5 score.  Joely Rodriguez got the start and got hit around, giving up 11 hits and 7 runs, although only two were earned, in 4.2 innings. He struck out 3 batters while walking one.  Barrett Barnes went 2-4, with a walk, a run scored, and 2 strikeouts.  Eric Wood went 1-3, with 2 walks, 2 strikeouts, and a grand slam.  Max Moroff went 0-2, with 2 walks.  Josh Bell missed his second straight game with an allegedly minor knee injury.  Stetson Allie also got the day off.  The Power will return to action on 6/20 after the South Atlantic League All-Star game.
